I’m over the halfway point on my 6.5 week Fast 800 diet, so to distract myself from the fact that I’ve got to do what I just did AGAIN, here are 6.5 tips to help you fast for 16 hours a day without killing anyone.
If you are interested in my progress, so far I have lost 11 lbs and about 1.5 inches from my waist. I’m also used to not having breakfast now, although I do get quite hungry, especially at work. I should also admit that my calorie intake has increased a bit by accident and I’m averaging about 900-1000 a day. Oh, and last Saturday I let myself have a day off and ate about 2,800 calories worth of delicious Greek food in London. It was all pretty healthy stuff though.
1. Drink loads of water and fruit/herbal tea
I now look forward to my cup of fruit tea when I get to work in the morning. I used to look forward to a bowl of porridge. That was the old Zoe. The new Zoe is a whole new level of pathetic.
2. Use a fitness app to track every single calorie (I use My Fitness Pal)
And be completely honest with yourself. I have been inputting absolutely everything and I’ve realised how little it takes to go over the limit. It kind of stops you taking that sneaky forkful of leftovers or squeezing in an extra cuppa after dinner.
3. Eat loads of vegetables
They’re so low calorie that you can eat lots of them and fool your brain into thinking you’ve had a good feast. I ate a whole broccoli on Friday night. It was quite painful.
4.Measure and weigh yourself regularly and track your progress
I thought my fat would melt away instantly. I honestly wondered if I would lose too much weight on this diet. Haha hahaha.
But over time the pounds do disappear. I think you just have to be persistent.
5. Find your treat
Mine is grapes and protein yoghurt. I’ve come to be very fond of it.
6. Don’t beat yourself up
(I nearly wrote beat yourself off – you can do that all you like) if you fall off the wagon, don’t worry. Life is life is life. Get back on it the next day and try not to bore everyone with your guilt and self-loathing.
6.5. On no account should you EVER put a grape
And that concludes 6.5 tips for coping with the Fast 800, or any kind of fasting diet. Sorry I haven’t put much energy into making this post entertaining. I’m actually writing it while lying in bed on Sunday morning. Lalala I’m going to yoga now bye.
